Hay Karima ↔ Madinat Al Irfane

Line 1 (red) of the Rabat-Salé Tramway links Hay Karima, in Salé, to Madinat Al Irfane, Rabat’s major university hub. Opened on 23 May 2011, it crosses the Bouregreg over the Pont Hassan II and, together with Line 2, forms the backbone of public transport across the conurbation.

From Salé, the line serves Tabriquet and Salé Station (interchange with mainline trains), then crosses the river towards central Rabat — Tour Hassan, Rabat-Ville station, Bab Rouah and the National Library — before reaching the Agdal district and the Souissi university campus.

Along the shared central section (Bab Lamrissa, Pont Hassan II, Place du 16 Novembre, Tour Hassan, Place Al Joulane), Line 1 shares the platforms with Line 2: you can switch from one line to the other there. The network is operated by Transdev on behalf of Rabat Région Mobilité.
