How fares work on the Rabat-Salé Tramway

The Rabat-Salé Tramway charges a flat fare of 7 DH per trip, whatever the distance travelled. The ticket stays valid for 1 hour and allows one transfer between Line 1 and Line 2 along the shared central section.

You can pay in two ways: a single ticket bought from the station machines, or the rechargeable contactless Irtiyah card, which you validate as you board. The 7 DH fare is then deducted automatically from your balance.

The contactless Irtiyah card

The Irtiyah card is the official, contactless, rechargeable transport card of the Rabat-Salé Tramway. Tap it on the validator as you board and the 7 DH fare is deducted automatically — no more queuing for a ticket on every trip.

The card itself costs about 15 DH; you then load travel credit onto it. You can recharge from 20 DH to 200 DH at a time, as often as you like.

The card has no expiry date for as long as it keeps working. Buy and recharge the card at the ticket offices of any station or at the ticket machines available at many stations.

How to get your Irtiyah card

    1

    Go to a tramway station

Ticket offices are present at every station; many stations also have ticket machines.

    2

    Ask for an Irtiyah card

Tell the agent you want a rechargeable card. No ID is required for a standard card.

    3

Pay 15 DH + your credit

Pay for the card plus the travel credit you want to load (from 20 DH to 200 DH). Cash payment is accepted everywhere.

    4

    Validate and travel

Tap the card on the validator as you board. The 7 DH fare is deducted automatically from your balance.

    How to recharge

There are two main ways to recharge your Irtiyah card:

    1. Ticket office at any station — hand over your card and the amount in cash, and the agent recharges it on the spot. You can load from 20 DH to 200 DH at a time.
    2. Ticket machines available at many stations — a touchscreen lets you recharge the card yourself.

The card can be recharged as many times as needed as long as it is in good condition. We’ll post any new recharge option (online or via an app) here as soon as it becomes available.

    Single tickets and passes

For an occasional trip, the single ticket is the simplest option — buy it from the machine and validate it as you board. It costs 7 DH, stays valid for 1 hour and allows one transfer between the two lines.

For regular trips, monthly passes are available: a discounted Irtiyah student pass and a public monthly pass, far better value per trip than the single ticket. Combined tram + bus and tram + parking (Park & Ride) options are also offered.
